Pretoria Muslim Trust organizes Salatul Istisqa (Prayer for rain)
On Sunday the 1st November, the students of Darul Uloom Pretoria made way to the Laudiam Stadium to make a plea in the court of Allah Almighty for beneficial rain.
The students and teachers of the institute joined a large number of local residents who had also attended the mass gathering.
The principal of Darul Uloom Pretoria, Mufti Mohammed Akbar Hazarvi delivered a short discourse regarding Salat-ul-Istisqaa.
Mufti Sahib mentioned a miracle of the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم which took place in Madina when a companion requested the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to make dua for rain. He صلى الله عليه وسلم made Dua and it rained for a week constantly. The companion presented himself once again, this time telling Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم that before we were destroyed due to not having water now we are destroyed due to having too much water the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم smiled and said do u want me to supplicate so that the rain should stop the companion said can we have it so that it should not rain in the city but rain in the surroundings . The Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم supplicated “اللهم حوالينا لا علينا ” : “O Allah make it rain around us not on us”. It is said that when the companions left the Masjid it was raining in the surrounding area of Madina.
Thereafter, the Deputy Principal of Darul Uloom Pretoria Hafiz Ismail Hazarvi explained the method of Salat-ul-Istisqaa. The attendees formed rows and stood in the court of Allah Almighty.
A peaceful silence spread through the large crowd while Mufti Mohammed Akbar Hazarvi delivered the arabic khutba.
The Imaam of Jummah Masjid, Qari Muzhar Abbaas led the first Dua in the court of Allah Almighty for mercy, tranquility and beneficial rain to which the community said Ameen.
Thereafter the congregation stood to present there love and respect in the court of the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه which was led by an educator of the Darul Uloom Pretoria Moulana Hafiz Mehboob ur Rehman.
Mufti Mohammed Akbar Hazarvi then led the second Dua which concluded The programme.
We pray that may Allah Almighty accept the presence of all the attendees and grant Laudiam and South Africa as a whole with beneficial rain
