Shahadah – The first Pillar of Islam

One of most important fundamentals of Islam is to believe that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (Salallahu Alaihi Wasalaam) is His Messenger. As Allah (Subhanu Wa Tala) says in the Holy
Qur’aan “Believe in Allah and his Messenger and the light which He send down.” [Surah:64:8] 

Furthermore, the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم‎ has said: “Whoever witnesses that there is none worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger, Allah forbids the fire (hell) from touching him.”
We understand from the above mentioned Hadith that one needs to utter the declaration of faith with his tongue and accept it with his heart.

One can keep firm on this declaration by carrying out the commandments of Allah Almighty (from the Holy Qur’aan) and commandments of his Beloved Messenger (the Sunnah).  

Thus, when a servents Salaah, sacrifice, life and death are only for Allah, then he will be saved from the fire of hell.
