Naat Competition
The Darul uloom Pretoria, in conjunction with the High Commision of Pakistan in Pretoria hosted a Naat competition. Participants from all over Gauteng participated in this event.
These participants represented organisations such as Dawate Islami, Madressah Imaam Ahmed Raza, Pretoria Muslim Trust Sunni School, Saabirie Chisti Society & Sultan Bahu Centre. Furthermore, there were participants representing various other Masaajid of the province as well as many independent contestants, including a young boy from the High Comission itself.
The competition was divided into two age categories: A category for younger participants as well as an open category for participants of any age.
The positions in the junior category were as follows:
- Sabir Raza of Dawate Islami
- Mohammad Hassan Walia of Sultan Bahu Centre.
- Mohammad Ebrahim Amod of Sabiri Chisti Society.
The positions in the senior category were as follows:
- Qari Zahid Ahmed Zahidi of Sabri Chisti Society.
- Ahmed Saifi.
- Nabeel Ahmed.
All the participants were presented with certificates for their brilliant renditions.
The Honourable Ambassador, Mr Najmus Saqib, himself rendered, in the most beautiful manner, the praises of the beloved prophet (PBUH). Furthermore, another member of the embassy, the hospitable Mr Falak Sher, recited a Naat which he himself had written.
The attendees of this event were spiritually uplifted and astonished by the love with which the participants- young and old- rendered the praises of the Holy Prophet PBUH, they were also amazed by the amount of talent that local Naat Khwan posess.
